Are Northeast Detectives guilty of “Systematically Securing Convictions”against Innocence People?

The Purpose Of this Publication is not to Retry these 2 cases mentioned here, but to expose the widespread corruption within the Northeast Division of the LAPD.

Someone said “No one will get involved until it happens to them”!

As the residents of Highland Park and the surrounding communities is predominantly Latino. I wonder how many families here have suffered the loss of loved ones due to poor police work , crooked cops or just plain racism.

I know for a fact of 2 families, and I'm sure that there are many more, that have their children in prison for crimes that they didn't commit. Crimes where Northeast Detectives have intentionally did things to secure convictions against them.

Let's talk about a man named David Anthony Dominguez. In 1999 David was arrested for a murder that he still claims his innocence. David was arrested by Detective Jose Carrillo.  This case is filled with witness coercing and has similarities of a case that happens almost 15 years later. A case that we will look at later on in this story. A case in which I am very knowledgeable about. The Matthew Turner case.

David was a young man at the time of his arrest. At this time and for the past 14 years he has tried everything from filing for an Appeal to filling complaints against the Northeast Detectives assigned to his case.

As I have read court transcripts of David's trial I was really taken aback when I read that Detective Jose Carrillo arranged a Live Line Up without the Defense Attorney being present. But that's not all he did. He lied and said that he tried to contact David's Attorney and also that he left a message on the Public Defenders answering machine. The Public Defender’s office personnel assigned to receiving calls from Law enforcement agencies requesting Live Line Ups, testified that they never received any calls from Detective Carrillo or was there any message found left by him, on any answering machines.

Court Transcripts clearly shows that the witness at the scene of the crime gives Detectives a statement stating that he saw the shooter exit a car and proceed to shot the victim to death but that the suspect had on a "hoodie" and couldn't see the shooters face. As a matter of fact the witness states that as the shooter looks in his direction “I hid behind a tree". Clearly this witness maintains that he never saw the shooter. However Detective Carrillo persistently badgers this witness until finally while sitting in Eastlake Juvenile Hall he susceptibly makes an ID and then is released from custody.    

I must add that the initial Eyewitness descriptions of the shooters in both these cases Do Not match the persons sitting in prison. As a matter of fact they both have Solid Alibis.

David was found guilty of Murder and sentenced to 50 yrs. to Life.

The way that I happened to learn about the David Dominguez case was not by chance. You see my son Matthew Turner had also been falsely arrest and convicted of Murder and Attempted Murder.

While sitting in Prison, David Dominguez got wind of a case involving a young man that his parents and family members where trying to expose the Injustice that their son had suffered at the hands of the Deputy DA Andrea Pott and Northeast Homicide Detectives Jose Carrillo, Lisa Governo and hard old DiCorce.

The Turner family was contacted by the Dominguez family while in church and given some papers sent from Prison by Mr . Dominguez to look over. The papers were complaint forms filed by Mr. Dominguez back in 2003 to various Law Enforcement Agencies such as the LAPD Internal Affairs, USDOJ, and others.

These complaints alleged that Northeast Homicide Detectives and Jose Carrillo had "Systematically Secured" convictions against himself and others. And now almost 15 yrs.  later another case with so many similarities, arises.

Now in the case of Matthew Turner a young man that had graduated from High School and completed a Gang Intervention Program through Aztecs Rising a gang intervention program funded by the City of Los Angeles.

Matthew was 17 yrs old at this time. He grew up here in Highland Park and has many friends here. Like many of the children growing up here, some of his friends got involved in tagging crews and gangs. There were times when Police stopped Matthew and his friends, some documented gang members. And I tell you from experience because I was a gang member in my youth. That if you are stopped by the Crash Unit (Gang Unit) in the accompany of known gang members everyone that you are stopped with are documented as Gang Members and put in the Gang File.

Matthew has been arrested as a Juvenile for Marijuana and V C Section 10851(Driving without the owner’s consent).  

Before I go any further I must say that I have thoroughly studied all the evidence / discovery in this case. I have viewed all the witness DVD recorded interviews, studied the Murder Book, sat through 2 Trials and the Motion for the New Trial Hearing. So what is told to you in this story is not just a Father that is defending his “poor son”, but actual Facts that can be substantiated by Court Transcripts, Police Reports and DVD Recordings.  

On Oct 2, 2008 2 boys were shot in a drive-by shooting in Highland Park near the Metro Goldline Station. Witnesses say that a car pulled up and asked “Where you from?" and the passenger got out and began to shoot at the 2 boys. There was a girl (Stephanie Renteria) walking with the boys who says the shooter was 4-6 ft away from her as he got out of the car and began to open fire on the boys. And she (Stephanie Renteria) testified that she froze as the shooter begins to shoot. From the crime scene to the police station she (Stephanie Renteria), names a local area gang member as being the shooter. In the recorded DVD interview she states that she was sure that it was this gang member because he had, “had a Confrontation with the boys earlier in the same day”.

She describes the shooter as a Latino Male, 5’5 Shaved head, Darked skinned , short, Stocky and light mustache.

Matthew Turner is approximately 5’9, thin and Light Skinned, Afro American male (Bi-racial). Matthew also has a Very Distinctive Mole almost the size of a dime above his lip and has never had any Facial hair.

A couple of weeks after the initial Interview, Stephanie Renteria is back in the Police Station for more questioning. In the 2nd Interview with Detective Harold DiCorce the description of the shooter changes slightly. Detective DiCorce asks Ms Renteria “ Is there anything that Stand Out about this guy that you remember:” ? “Anything like a Scar, Tattoo or a Mole”?  Ms Renteria says, “NO”!  

Soon after that Ms Renteria is in front of a Police Sketch Artist. Still No Mole.

In March 2009 a young Gang Member named Johnny Robles gets arrested for a Robbery and tells the arresting Officers that he has information about a Murder and was willing to talk to Detectives in exchange for his freedom.

Not knowing that he was being Recorded, Mr. Robles tells Detectives Carrillo and Yamada that he knew about the shooting death of Adrian Bentacor. He states that the deceased victim, Mr Bentacor was his “Cousin-in-law and that Stephanie Renteria was his cousin”. When asked “Who was the shooter” by Detective Carrillo, Mr.  Robles is seen in the recorded interview looking around the room as to “Come up with a name” and then after about 20 seconds of thinking he says, “Snoopy”. He didn’t know Snoopy’s real name but said that they were in a Tagging Crew together at Luther Burbank Middle School. He then proceeded to say “I picked him out before”.

He says that Snoopy has a Mole on his lip and is shown a school yearbook where he picks out Matthew Turner. This is coming from someone that is providing information in hopes of avoiding arrest for a Robbery.

He also says that Matthew Turner was coming out of the Swap Mall on Figueroa and that Matthew Turner told him he had just gotten a tattoo on his shoulder the day he talked about this shooting.  Detective stripped down Matthew and found no tattoos.

However this is when the Northeast Detectives began to build a case against Matthew.

3 mos after Johnny Robles (cousin of Ms Renteria) tells Detective Carrillo about Matthew Turner, Stephanie Renteria is back in the Police Station and says she sees the suspect in the streets and all of a sudden remembers him because of the MOLE.

This is one Recorded DVD Interview in which the public should all see. It is a Recorded Interview filled with Witness Manipulation and Coercing. Northeast Detective Harold DiCorce is seen in this Interview to be very “Suggestive” and is also seen telling Ms. Renteria that the words she used to describe Matthew Turner as “had Similar features as the guy I have seen”, was, “not good words”. He said to her,” you have to use words that are more like Exact”. Stephanie Renteria then changes her Witness Admonition form from, “has similar features to looks exactly like him”.

And the plot thickens. Stephanie Renteria is left alone in the Interview Room and she proceeds to pull out a Cell Phone and take a Picture of the six pack with Matthew Turner. When confronted by Detective Dicorce she says she did it because she wanted something to “Compare with”, if she saw him again in the streets. It was learned during the 1st Trial that her sister had given her the phone 15 mins prior to Stephanie going to the Interview and told Stephanie to take a picture of Matthew so she could make an identification also.

Surviving victim Joey Chavez maintains that the Shooter had a “Goatee”. As a matter of fact when he is shown pictures of six packs with Matthew Turner’s picture in it, he Does Not make an ID. Even at the Live Line Up, Joey says no one had a ‘Goatee” so he Could Not make an ID.

Let me say this now. Whenever Matthew Turner’s picture is shown in ID six packs, Matthew Turner is the only one in the six packs with a MOLE. At the Live Line up, Matthew is the youngest one and the only one with a Mole. This is very Suggestive to potential eyewitnesses.  

During the initial investigation there were 4 anonymous phone calls that come into the police station, each of the callers named the same person as the shooter. There is even a Recorded Interview with a man named George Young that was picked up on a warrant and he also named the same person as the callers did. But yet there was NEVER any Investigation or Questioning done to this individual.

Matthew Turner has a Solid Alibi. 25 -30 mins after the shooting Matthew is signed in at his Probation Officer’s office( all the way across town) for a random Drug Test. Deputy Probation Officer Richard Romo testified that Matthew was the Ideal Probationer and that if there were anything suspicious about Matthew that day he would of noted it or did something about it. Matthew was discharged early from Probation because he complied with all the requirements.  

There were 2 Trials. The first trial ended in 10 Not Guilty, 2 Guilty. The Jury deliberated for 3 days. Matthew was found Guilty in the 2nd Trial. However the only thing done different in the 2nd Trial was that the DA brought in 3 New Witnesses that didn’t appear in the 1st Trial.

When Matthew was found Guilty we fired then Defense Attorney Arlene Binder and then Hired Christopher A. Darden, famous for the OJ Simpson murder Trial. Mr. Darden is the one that uncovered DA Misconduct and LAPD Misconduct. DA Misconduct because the DA withheld information from the Defense that 2 of 3 the New Witnesses were Relocated and Paid. One was paid to the tune of $5000. LAPD Misconduct because Northeast Detective Lisa Governo withheld Evidence when a witness was overheard saying to her, “I never saw him before, that’s the wrong guy”, in reference to Matthew Turner.

MATTHEW WAS SENTENCED TO 90 YRS. TO LIFE FOR CRIME IN WHICH EVERYONE KNOWS HE DIDN'T DO.

These Detectives involved are the same the Detectives that arrested the wrong guy for the Dodger Stadium beating of Bryan Stow

THE FAMILY OF THE VICTIMS DESERVE TO HAVE THE REAL KILLERS BROUGHT TO JUSTICE IN BOTH CASES
